Tournament Schedule Update

It’s been a while and time for a few updates!
First, the bad news. I didn’t get into the first Epson tournament of the season, which is this weekend in Winter Haven, Florida. I was five or six spots down on the wait list and decided to withdraw and cancel my plane tickets. The next three Epson tournaments are all within driving distance for me (two in Arizona and one near Palm Springs), so a last minute decision is a little easier to make when there aren’t logistics like flights and rental cars involved. That said, I am on the wait list for all three of those tournaments, too. There’s a chance I’ll still get in, although it doesn’t look good for the next one, which is in Mesa, Az March 16-19. It’s a larger field and a larger purse, so there’s more interest. I’m closer on the other two, but it’s likely I won’t know until right before the tournament.

Plan B
Since I’m not playing in Florida, I signed up for another Cactus Tour event in Beaumont, Ca March 6 – 8. You can follow online here if you’re interested. They just wrapped up another Cactus Tour event there today and had some troubles with weather. They cancelled play the first day and shortened it to a two day tournament. I am hoping this winter storm that has had California in its grasp for two weeks will finally pass and the weather will cooperate.
There’s a couple Monday Qualifiers for LPGA tournaments in Southern California that I am planning to play and qualifying for the US Women’s Open is right around the corner. I have a couple good options for places to play – I just need to figure out where I’ll be based on the tournaments before or after. It’s a lot to keep track of and figure out, but exciting to have the opportunity. The US Women’s Open is at Pebble Beach this year and it would be a dream come true to play in it!
Good news
There’s been a lot of good news lately. The Grind , part of Firepit Collective, has released their first five episodes. They give great perspective on the “behind the scenes of professional golf.” I don’t know yet when my episode will air, but the first five shows are now on YouTube, and you can find the first episode here. (If you watch closely, you can see some of my footage in the intro!)
I also received an Illahe Hills Country Club Stroll Magazine earlier this week. They did a feature on me and my professional golf journey in their member magazine. One of my parents’ good friends, (and a wonderful supporter) Pat Abeene, dropped off a copy at their home so they could see it. It was a recap of Stage I and II, mentioned my swing coach, Al Cross, who is a former Illahe Hills golf professional and reminded readers they can follow me on this blog. What a nice thing to do! Illahe has been so supportive of me. I love San Diego but I do miss my Salem fan club!
I’ll be announcing a new partnership soon and hope to have more good news to share after my next tournament. Stay warm and dry and thanks again for your support!
