Stage II starts now!

I made it to Florida on Sunday! The tournament starts tomorrow (Thursday) and it will be played over two courses and four days. The courses (Bob Cat and Panther) are both at Plantation Golf Club. There are 176 players in the field and the top 45 (plus ties) will advance to Q-Series. My first round tee time is Thursday, 8:12 (EST) on Bob Cat. You can follow live scoring at scoring.lpga.com or follow my official Twitter @ellie_fan_club for live updates (compliments of my mom and dad).

It’s a family affair so my brother, Tim, is caddying and he will be carrying my brand new bag, compliments of Jones Golf! They rushed it so I would have it in time for this tournament. I love that it has both the Bandon Dunes logo and the Beaver logo (on the other side!)

I’ve had a chance to play a practice round at each of the courses. There is still evidence of Hurricane Ian and its aftermath, but they did a great job getting the courses in shape. We got some rain today and the courses are wet, so we will be playing lift, clean and place for at least the first two days.

We are staying really close to Plantation – thanks to the kindness and generosity of Sue Dombroske. Sue and I have never met, but her brother, Steve Hagen is a long time rules official for the Oregon Golf Association and member at Illahe Hills. Steve arranged for my family and me to stay here and I am so grateful! It is a beautiful home and I can’t tell you how nice it is to stay in a house instead of a hotel room. Thank you so much, Sue!

My former teammate, Olivia Benzin, is here competing too! We posed for a quick picture on the putting green today after my practice round.
