I am Q-School bound

I made it to Palm Springs! The first round of qualifying school starts next Thursday. The field of approximately 400 hopefuls will play three different courses at Mission Hills Country Club and Shadow Ridge Golf Course.

Yesterday, I played a practice round on the Dinah Shore course at Mission Hills. I had a fabulous host who gave me some good insights and then showed me around the area after our round.

Poppie's pond

The course is famous for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is Poppie’s Pond, where tradition requires the winner to jump in following her victory. It’s a beautiful course and it was fun seeing lots of other girls I know from college and junior golf out there practicing too.

Today, I’m playing the Palmer course and tomorrow, I plan to practice in the morning before heading to the airport to pick up my brother, Tim. He’ll be caddying for me this week and I am excited for him to get here and see the courses. Tim caddied for me in all my US Girls tournaments, lot of USGA qualifiers, at the 2019 Portland Classic and last year at Augusta National. He knows my game and does a great job keeping me focused but loose out there on the course.

Tim and Ellie at the Portland Classic

Official practice rounds start Monday, and I’m playing with my former Oregon State teammate, Olivia Benzin. Another former teammate, Nicole Schroeder, who lives in Palm Springs now, picked me up from the airport. I am definitely feeling the love and looking forward to the next week!
